Mutton Karahi Recipe

Eid-ul-adha special dish for this year is mutton karahi. On this festival enjoy mutton karahi with friends and family. This is very healthy and easy version of mutton karahi. Make it on this weekend and let us know if you like it. Stay healthy.

Ingredients

For mutton stock:
1 kg mutton
1 cup water
1/2 tbsp salt
1 inch cinnamon stick
2 black cardamom
4-5 cloves
1 tsp whole black peppercorns
1 star anise
For masala:
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tbsp + 2 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2 medium sized onion, chopped
2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp coriander powder
3 cloves
1 black cardamom
3 medium sized tomatoes, chopped
1/2 tsp salt
1 and 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp crushed black pepper
1/2 cup yogurt
2 green chillies, chopped
1 tbsp garam masala
1/2 cup fresh coriander, chopped

Procedure

1. Add all the ingredients of stock 1 kg mutton: 1 cup water, 1/2 tbsp salt, 1 inch cinnamon stick, 2 black cardamom, 4-5 cloves, 1 tsp whole black peppercorns, and 1 star anise in a pressure cooker, and cook for 10 to 15 minutes. Set aside.
2. In a pan add 1/2 cup vegetable oil and 2 tbsp butter mix well. On medium heat let butter to melt and oil to heat up. Add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds and mix. On high heat, add chopped onions and let them cook  until translucent for about 2 to 3 minutes.
3. Add 4 tbsp ginger garlic paste and mix well. Add 1 tsp coriander powder and mix. Cook for 1 minute. Add 3 cloves and 1 black cardamom mix well. Let them sizzle a bit.
4. Now add 3 medium sized chopped tomatoes, cook on medium heat let them fully cook thourgh for 5 minutes. Add cooked mutton and fry on high heat on 3 to 5 minutes.
5.  Turn the heat to low and add 1/2 salt, 1 and 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder,1/4 tsp turmeric powder, and 1/2 tsp crushed black pepper. Mix well.
6. Whisk well yogurt, and add 1/2 cup yogurt mix well. On low heat let it cook. Add 3 chopped  green chillies mix well. Add 1 tbsp of garam masala and mix it well. At last add fresh coriander and serve hot.
