Chana masala is a very famous indian dish. Chanay are famous for their earthy texture. Chana masala is a dish which have very chilli and spicy sauce (Recipe can be found on our website). To give a slight variation on chana masala we bring you a recipe that is a special take on chana masala. It is chana and aloo gravy. Aloo in this dish are super soft and give a complement to the chana present in the dish. It is must have dish. We hope you like it.
Ingredients
6 tbsp of vegetable oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 large onion, chopped
2 green chillies
4 cloves of garlic
1 inch piece of ginger
3 tsp of crushed coriander
1 tbsp of salt
2 tbsp of red chilli powder
1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
3 medium size tomatoes, chopped
1 and 1/2 cup boiled chickpeas
4 medium size potatoes, cut into cubes
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp fenugreek leaves (meethi)
1/2 cup chopped fresh coriander
3 cups water
Procedure
1. In a pan heat up the vegetable oil,add cumin seeds to it and stir it. Add chopped onions and cook until turn golden in colour.
2. Grind ginger, garlic, green chilies and crushed coriander seeds and make a fine paste.
3. In the pan add a splash of water then add salt, red chilli powder and turmeric powder mix it. Add ginger garlic paste to the pan and mix well.
4. Cook ginger garlic paste for about 2 minutes than add chopped tomatoes and mix. Cover the lid and let them cook for about 3 minutes.
5. Add potatoes and mix well. Cover the lid add 1/2 cup water and let them cook for about 5 to 7 minutes.
6. After potatoes are partially cooked add chickpeas and mix them well. Mix well until oil separates.
7. Add meethi, garam masala and stir well. Add 2 and 1/2 cup water and stir add chopped fresh coriander and serve hot.
