Chapter Eight – Waves
Energy is transported from one place to another through waves. This chapter is all about waves, its types and phenomenon related waves. There are two types of waves, transverse waves and longitudinal waves.
Waves in which particles vibrate perpendicular to the direction of propagation of waves is known as transverse waves. Whereas the type of waves in which particles vibrate along the direction of propagation of waves is known as longitudinal waves. Waves are added under the principle of superposition.
Phenomena in which two waves having same frequency and traveling in the same direction, known as interference. If two identical waves travel in opposite direction, stationary waves are produce. The apparent change in frequency of the waves is observed in Doppler Effect.
