1. B.ed categories

B.ed programe offered by AIOU in three different categories which involves 1.5 year (After 16 year of education), 2.5 year (After 14 year of education) and 4 year( After 12 year of education).

2. Course codes

You really need to know about course codes. While filling any form or doing any work related to degree write and follow your code carefully.

3. Workshops

In each semester there is 2 weeks workshop and it is compulsory. Depending on your course code workshop will be held closest to your postal address. Every subject course code involves 2 days workshop except research project workshop.  Research project workshop consists of 3 days, teaching practice 1 involves 3 days workshop and 14 days of field work and lastly teaching practice 2 involves 7 days of workshop and 6 weeks of field work plus 40 lesson plans and 2 final lessons.

4. Research project

Last semester of B.Ed involves Research project. It is a compulsory part of the degree. Research project is a written project (thesis). It does not involve any viva voice.

5. Teaching practice 1

In teaching practice 1 you have to visit your nearest schools to observer how work is going on in the schools. You have to write field notes about it and that notes should be submitted to your coordinator where your workshop was held earlier.

6. Teaching practice 2

In teaching practice 2 you have t complete 40 lesson plans for school and submit to your coordinator at the end of 6 weeks of practice. 2 final lessons will also held at the end of 6 weeks of teaching practice.(criteria will be different for leadership and management courses)

7. Specialization

Area of specialization will be offered by university in second last semester. Choose it with your own will.

8. Semester Assignments

In every semester assignment is compulsory for all the courses expect teaching practice 1, teaching practice 2 and research project. Assignment should be delivered to the address of the tutor before due date. You will get the Tutor’s address via post. In case you did’nt get it, You can get the tutor’s address from AIOU website.

9. Exams

At the end of semester examination will be held. Each paper will contain 8 questions from which you have to solve Mostly 5 Questions. You can get all old AIOU Past B.Ed papers by clicking here. Passing marks are 50 out of 100. There will be no written exam of teaching practice 1, 2 and research project.

10. Time Managment

Classes for workshop will be held in evening. From 1pm to 6pm. Paper timings are also in evening 2 pm to 5 pm.
It will definitely be a good learning experience. If you are doing some job in morning then it is easy to manage job and evening classes at the same time.
