Raspberry Pi Computer, the size of a credit card helped to launch a new era of coding world. Thanks to its low cost, large companies such as VMware and Google have distributed hundred of DIY panels for children around the world. They hope that it will inspire the computer scientists of next generation.
The Raspberry Pi Foundation is currently working with educational sector for their computers to be in good hands, and their latest statement aims to further improve reach. Today the Raspberry Pi Foundation has confirmed about the merger with Coderdojo and to which they believes is the largest organization for promotion of codes in the world.
Coderdojo, if you do not know, is an organization which is based in Dublin. The main aim of this organization is to helping young people to code. This facilitates the creation of volunteer planning teams for youth aged 7 to 17. Coderdojo says in their statement there are over 1250 CoderDojos in 69 countries serving around 35,000 children.
Although the Raspberry Pi Foundation is very famous for its boards for cheap computers, but also has a voice and a vehement community. It help teachers by providing resources who are passionate to organize code training and manages the club programming code for children ages 9 to 13 (including over 150,000 children a week network). Club code was not part of this organization from start, but – the Foundation had a merger with the organization of the same name in 2015.
Just look at the numbers, it’s easy to say why Coderdojo and Raspberry Pi are a best fit. Also, it’s something that the hardware base companies has accomplishes in past. Despite their programming club may differ slightly, both of these organizations came to this conclusion that there is “a need and a place for both. ”
The general manager of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, Eben Upton, said recently that the organization would avoid major products and pay more attention to software and “increase” its charity work. Today’s news encourage that the dream come true.
“The Raspberry Pi will work closely with Coderdojo to advance our common goals, gathering resources and expertise to get more adult volunteers and youth involved in the cause,” said a statement from the Raspberry Pi Foundation. “Our combined scale will allow us to invest more in systems and infrastructure that support our work and offer a wide range of services and products to our communities. “
