There are a lot of concepts for the future of cell phones. I for one realize that a lot seem to be inspired by TV shows like Star Trek. My most favorite of the concept phones I could find was the Nokia Communicator 888.
Nokia Communicator 888
Just look at this thing. Communicator 888 concept phone bends and twists it is totally flexible. As far as usability, I can hardly think of something better than this little beauty with its liquid batteries and flexible touchscreen, It has a touch sensitive body cover as well. One only has to look at this phone to see how interesting this one is. Why get an iPhone when you can get this wonderful phone?
Benq-Siemens Snaked
Another concept mobile phone is the Benq-Siemens Snaked. This is a phone that can be put on your arm, making for a wearable phone that is far more interesting that the common boring old cell phone. This concept phone could be very useful for exercise aficionados.
NEC Tag
Similar to the above phone is the NEC Tag. This mobile phone is a lot like the other two above in that it is a flexible phone. One of the benefits of this phone is that is has a memory as to the shape that it takes on. In certain modes it will automatically morph to the preset shape.
Implanted phone
Another concept is one that has been around for decades but has yet to be put together as a concept phone and that is a phone that is actually implanted. The idea is that the phone would be placed near the ear and would have micro-wires to allow you to hear who is on the other end. There are technological challenges that have not been overcome to this technology so it is a concept we still have a fairly long wait for, but some scientists are stating that it could be available as soon as 2015. That is not so far away, the only issue I can see with this phone is that it would be real hard to change models of the phone and what if you have a problem with your cell phone carrier. It is not so easy to change out phones for a new model.
Regardless of these issues it will still be a significant advance once this concept phone is available.
Watch phone
The watch phone has been a concept common to science fiction for years, now with the TripleWatch we have a phone that is not only wearable as a watch but can be laid out flat to be like nearly any other phone. When it is set up as a watch the speakerphone is automatically activated to make it a hands free operating cell phone.
The last cell phone that we have found is meant for those crowded places where it is hard to hold onto your standard phone. It is another example of a wearable phone and one that will be certain to be popular in crowded metro locations.
Which concept phone should I choose?
One thing is certain there are plenty of future concepts for cell phones and there will be one that will be the phone you are looking for. I think the implanted phone will be very popular once it is available. But until then I think I will save up for the Nokia 888 communicator or Snaked.
